Telavi is the main center of eastern part of Georgia , Region Kakheti. The city is built on the mountain slope from where spreads out a fascinating view of Alazani Valley and The Great Caucasus Mountain Ranges.In addition to this natural beauty Telavi is rich with it’s history this approval are the archaeological findings dated back to the Bronze Age.The one of the earliest surviving accounts of Telavi is from 2nd century AD, by a Greek geographer Claudius Ptolemaeus mentioning the name of Telavi. Telavi began to transform into a fairly important and large political and administrative center in the 8th century AD.
In the Golden Era of Georgian history Telavi drops his popularity and rings it later in 17th century becoming the capital of Kakheti Kingdom. Nowadays Telavi represents the main town of Kakheti famous with it’s wine and hand-craft things.The city has preserved some fine places to see, such are: “The Lords Castle” with it’s huge fance and a yeard where the House- Museum of Erekle II (17th century Kakheti Kingdom King), Giorgi Chubinishvili Telavi State Historical and Ethnographic Museum and the “Rcheuli Marani”in English Picked Celler. Where you are able to taste some sorts famous Georgian wine.
